All Things Must Pass

Hey There! Thanks for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy your visit and I look forward to hearing what you think. Thanks again for stopping by!

Well, baseball on the south side ended this afternoon. Earlier this week, manager Ozzie Guillen took his talents to South Beach. Then end of an era in Chicago without a doubt. During his 8 year tenure not only was he a good manager, he was a pretty entertaining character. He also brought home a World Series trophy to Chicago! I’m going to miss the guy but I think it was a good thing for both the Sox and Ozzie. He is going to start fresh with the Florida Marlins. I wish him the best of luck.

I have been thinking about this for a few months now and I have decided that this would be a good time to end PhotoAbuse too. After 5 1/2 years and a little more than 600 pictures, I’m moving on. I have been working on a new site that I think not only looks different, it is all on one platform. This site started as a Pixelpost photoblog and WordPress was added. Pixelpost hasn’t been updated in years and the spammers have been a bit frisky lately. I couldn’t find a way to transfer all my posted pictures so I just figured this might just be the right time to let the site drift away and start anew.

I have been working on a new site for a while now over at TwoLight Photo. I found a template I liked and it is much easier to manage things using WordPress. I don’t see myself getting rid of the domain name any time soon as I may find another use for it some day. You just never know. But for now at least, I won’t be adding any more content there.

For those of you who stopped by to look at my pictures and my infrequent posts, Thank You! I truly hope you enjoyed my stuff. Please stop over at TwoLight and have a look around. I look forward to hearing what you think.

Making Light

I just got finished reading this eBook today and the 1st thought I had was how easy things might have been had this book been around a few years ago when I started getting into lighting.

Piet Van den Eynde has put together a winnner here. He covers everything here from flash fundamentals to off camera flash gear to get you started. There are even well presented case studies for you to peruse! Piet even describes how to set up your Nikon or Canon flashes. This book is a keeper, pure and simple.

I highly recommend this eBook if you are starting with off camera flash or heck, even if you have been doing it for a while. There is a lot of information wrapped in a nicely written package here.

Now go get yourself a copy!

Cheap Trick

I had another fun Saturday night in New Lenox!

If you haven’t guessed already, Cheap Trick was the nights headliner. They put on a pretty good show for the 5000+ people in attendance at the 2nd show of the New Lenox 2011 Concert Series.

I got kicked out of the pit after 2 1/2 songs and wandered around the park listening and reminiscing for a while and decided to get a few shots from the sound board. I made around 6 pictures before some guy started after me with his hands waving while yelling “no pictures!”  I guess he didn’t notice that half the place was taking pictures of the show with their phones! I could understand that reaction if it was 30 years ago but c’mon! At least I didn’t have to sign a release form. Another photographer did and it was a brutal agreement.

Rick Nielsen didn’t jump around as much as he used to but heck, no one can keep that up forever! One thing you can say about the guy is that he can still play! Nielsens’ son Daxx was on drums and turned in a great performance. I think he drummed standing up for the last 3 songs! He was booming too!

All in all it was a fun night. I was at a graduation party earlier in the day and my son, Nick, told me he wanted a Nielsen guitar pick. I even managed to come home with one of them! A good night it was!

The Last Weekend of July…

Click here to see a few more pictures!

…and it was a fun one! It all started Thursday night with mud volleyball at Proud American Days in New Lenox.

Friday I had to opportunity to ride around in a golf cart all afternoon with Kieran and a couple Hooters Girls. We were making pictures with willing foursomes for a golf outing benefiting the Ron Schaper Memorial Scholarship Fund. The high point of the nigh though was when my nephew Will received a scholarship check! I’m sure that will come in handy when he heads down to Southern Illinois University in a week or two. It goes without saying that we had a good time!

Saturday morning I was back at Proud American Days for more events. I made pictures for all kinds of events ranging from a beautiful baby contest to an Oreo cookie stacking contest! Very cool stuff and all the kids had a blast!

It was mid afternoon by the time I got home and just chilled for a few hours before I headed out with both my boys to check out Ted Nugent over at Ridgefest! Great show without a doubt. Ted hasn’t lost a step. He still puts on a great show for sure!

Sunday I did nothing and it felt great! I went through a lot of pictures, watched tv, and not much more. Felt pretty good if you ask me!

How was your weekend?
