New Years Day at the Beach?

What a way to start the New Year! Nothing like a quick swim in Lake Michigan to get your motor running. Did I mention it was only 11f out today?
The polar plunge, hosted by the Chicago Polar Bear Club, kicked off a little before noon today without a hitch. While I had no desire to hop in, a whole bunch of people did just that! I couldn’t believe how many people showed up and actually went for a swim. Craziness I tell ya! This was a fun event. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the expressions were great. I look forward to the big event in March.

I wouldn’t have believed it until I saw the ice in the water. Crazy, and that’s about the only way I can describe it. Great shots by the way. The ones that show the ice chunks really relay the story.
This was one of those events that you would think the people watching would have more fun than the participants. Was I wrong about that! Not many people left after they went in and everyone seemed to be having a blast. Shooting this one was like shooting a sporting event on steroids. Lots of action wherever you looked. Incredible.
Might have to put this event on the Bucket List!
