Sometimes You Just Have to Look Around
As I wrote about earlier, I got bored a couple of Saturdays ago and took a walk around the slough.
I had gone out there with the intention of making a few landscape pictures. I accomplished that and was getting ready to head home. On my way out I stopped by a small beach near the railroad tracks. There were some beer bottles floating in the water that I thought might make an interesting picture. I noticed all the damselflies buzzing around so I took my camera off the tripod, switched my kit lens out for my 50mm macro lens, and tried to make a few bug macros before I left. I made a few pictures and decided to look around the shoreline a little when I noticed this guy.
I have a horrible habit of getting tunnel vision when I go out shooting. I focus on one thing and try to make the best picture I can. I hate to think of all the stuff I have missed doing that. I have been making a concerted effort to look around a little more and it is paying off.
Today I was walking up to my back door when I noticed this Cicada hanging out. Took a quick look at him and ran in and got my camera for a quicky portrait!
Sometimes it pays to look around!
