About PhotoAbuse.com
In the year 2003, digital photography and editing became a reality for me. It was time to semi retire the Olympus film camera I have had forever and jump headfirst into the new millenium. While I was only shooting with a small point and shoot camera at the time, Photoshop opened the doors of creativity. Filters were discovered, and excitedly used like a sledge hammer. The belief was, in those heady days, that every photographic problem that was ever encountered by mankind could be solved using Photoshop. Every once in a while, things would get out of control and friends would politely go “Huh?”. That is where the name PhotoAbuse came in. While those days and beliefs are long gone, the name remains the same. While creativity is never frowned upon, Photoshop is now used as a tool, not a weapon.
PhotoAbuse.com has evolved over the years. There is a fairly large collection of photographs now. Some pretty good, some pretty bad. This site is more of a visual journey of my evolution as a photographer than it is a portfolio. I sort of like it that way. Makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something.
Jeff Lynch
I am a freelance photographer living in Oak Forest, Illinois. In addition to my normal photographic adventures, I am a stringer for 22nd Century Media, a local media group that publishes 6 papers. It’s fun and I really enjoy doing assignments for them. I get the opportunity to make pictures that I wouldn’t normally make. Variety is good!
I shoot with Nikon equipment and am not afraid to break out my Alien Bee lighting if I need more light than Mother Nature is willing to provide. I also make good use of my Nikon speedlights for location work. I use Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop for all post processing. Proofs are printed on an Epson printer and all final prints are sent to various online photo labs depending on the type of print required.
I enjoy photographing just about anything and am constantly fine tuning different techniques with my camera, lighting, and also in editing. The old saying, “You learn something new every day” certainly applies to photography!
Technology
This site is a witches brew of slightly modified programs. PixelPost is used for the PhotoBlog. WordPress is used for my blog. Last, but not least, Lightroom is used for some of the galleries.
