Local Critter
September 24, 2015
Someone told me a long long time ago that you should never pack up your gear until the very last minute. Some of your best pictures can come when you are done shooting. Best advice I have ever gotten when it comes to photography. I couldn’t tell you how many times it saved my butt when I worked for the local newspaper. I don’t pack anything up until I get to the car. This critter is a perfect example of that.
I went out the other evening to try my hand at hay bale photography. Don’t ask. I have no idea why. It seems like such a camera club kind of thing to do. But anyways, I was done shooting and was headed back to the car. I had thought about packing everything up to make it an easier walk but thought to myself, “No. You never know what you’ll come across in the final 1/4 mile!” I had been hearing the coyotes talking to each other but couldn’t see them. I was still holding out hope though. As I was walking past an apple tree I heard a big commotion and saw 3 raccoon’s scurrying around. 2 of them went up in the tree and the other one just disappeared into the brush. You just never know….
