Sunshine
April 5, 2016
This is a sunshine picture I made over the weekend with my phone. It never fails. Whenever there is some really cool light I’m either inside or in my car. Saturday was a crazy weather day. A little sunshine followed by a blizzard. This kept happening all day. Pretty wild.
While out running a few errands the snow quit blowing and suddenly there was sunshine. I was at a traffic light and everything just looked very cool with that light. You know, dark skies with the sunshine lighting everything with late afternoon warm light. I would love to have this light for a few landscape pictures. Anyhows, there I am at the light and I’m thinking to myself, “This would make a great picture. I love this light!”. One problem. My camera is on the kitchen table. Bummer. It was right about then that the little lightbulb in my head went on.
“I’ve got my phone!!!“
I pulled that puppy out and fired up the camera as fast as I could hoping the light didn’t change. I made 3 pictures and then the traffic started moving. I put my camera away and went about my business and didn’t look at them until later in the day. What a pleasant surprise. In two of the pictures the camera focused on the gas station and the water drops on the car window were way too blurry. Yeah. I didn’t even think about rolling down the window. I know…… One of the pictures however, focused on the water drops and looked pretty cool. To me at least.
I guess the moral of the story is that the best camera you have is the one you have with you. I heard that saying years and years ago when I was a young grasshopper and it’s true. I just wish I could remember that my phone can make some pretty nice pictures. And that I should make more use of it than I do.
