The Rookery Building
January 13, 2015
I had a little time off and finally went on a tour of the Rookery Building in Chicago. I couldn’t tell you how many times I have walked by this building wondering what it looked like inside. I’m glad I finally took a look!
Designed by Daniel Burnham and John Root, the building was completed in 1888 and became the home of the Central Safety Deposit Company. At the time, this was the tallest building in the city of Chicago weighing in at 11 stories! In 1905, Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to modernize the Light Court.
This is a very cool building. The detail is amazing. It was a fun tour and I learned a lot about the building and early Chicago.
